EP 009: STEAK AND BAKED POTATO (FT. RYAN CONNER)
The Chef Boys are joined by their pal, comedian Ryan Conner to talk a little bit of sports (but not too much) as Aaron makes them the meal Michael Jordan would eat before every game of basketball: steak and a baked potato. They also talk about horrible sports nutrition of the past, the end of Brendan's high school football career, and the disgusting apartment Brendan and Aaron lived in in Philadelphia ten years ago. Then Luke poses the question: if you had to go vegan but got to keep one animal product, what would you keep?
EP 008: CHICKEN TERIYAKI BOWLS (FT. KAIT THOMPSON)
This week the Chef Boys are joined by their pal, comedian Kait Thompson as Luke makes chicken teriyaki bowls for everybody. Kait gifts the gang a special seasoning shaker, Luke extolls the virtues of sous vide cooking, Brendan talks about what he would do if he were in charge of Pizza Hut, and they have a discussion of what they would eat if they could only eat the same meal for the rest of their lives, and what their death row meals would be.
EP 007: PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS? (FT. DARRYL CHARLES)
Our pal Darryl Charles joins the podcast as Brendan cooks up what he said was going to be Philly Cheesesteaks. The thing he wrought upon the Boys instead made for their most insane meal and podcast yet: Philly Cheesteaks Three Ways, the third way being most vile. They talk Philly food, debate the best regional cuisine, and at the very end of the podcast, they break their one rule.
EP 006: CRAZY CAKE (A.K.A. DEPRESSION CAKE)
It's dessert week and Aaron bakes up some crazy cake, a depression-era cake recipe with no eggs, butter, or milk that his mom used to make him every year for his birthday. They recorded this episode on her birthday and also she's dead now. The Boys talk about Aaron's mom, childhood birthday meals, debate what the best brand of snack cake is, and talk about why stand-up comedy is terrible and always has been.
EP 005: FRESH PASTA AND TOMATO SAUCE
This week, Luke makes his most-made meal: homemade tomato sauce. He pairs it with fresh pasta, which he only made for the first time a week before the podcast. The Boys talk Italian food (again) and debate what umami actually means, how climate and region effect cuisine, their favorite types of pastas, animal cruelty, mob movies, and who was the best spaghetti singer.
EP 004: POLENTA AND SHORT RIBS (FT. BLAKE WEXLER)
The Chef Boys welcome their first special guest, comedian Blake Wexler as Brendan returns to the kitchen to make polenta and short ribs with a side of asparagus. Blake talks about being a picky eater and trying to get over that and the discussion quickly devolves into a debate on which is worse, Italian American culture or Irish American culture. The Boys discuss MSG, gluten allergies, sous vide cooking, and the big trash fire in Central Pennsylvania that will never go out.
EP 003: MACARONI AND CHEESE
Aaron treats the Boys this week to his baked macaroni and cheese, immediately a point of contention between himself and Brendan. Brendan says it's more of a side so they also ordered some fried chicken from Popeye's. They talk about the different things you can put in mac and cheese, the difference between a soup and a salad, and Aaron doesn't know what an envelope is. Then they talk about what it means to be a man in the modern world.
EP 002: FRENCH TOAST
This week, Luke fired up the griddle and made the Boys some french toast. Keeping with the breakfast theme, Aaron and Brendan had a bunch of mimosas before the show. The discussion leads to a debate on diner culture, childhood foods, and Brendan recounting a formative trip to Disneyland. Then they talk about how they were propagandized into drinking a bunch of milk and how disgusting nutrition was in the 1990's in general.
EP 001: SLOW ROASTED PORK AND ASPARAGUS
On the very first Chef Boys-R-We, Brendan has cooked the Boys some slow roasted Boston Butt pork with a side of grilled asparagus (covered in bacon). He talks about his special barbecue seasoning blend, the Four Horsemen. The Boys also talk about the different types of fat guy you can be, epic bacon guys, and white people stealing from black people. Then Brendan ranks all the hot dog brands and has a very hot take regarding barbecue. Also, there were mic issues here that got corrected in the next episode.
